Award winning Internet service stretches MYOB for growing SME businesses
9 July 2010, Adelaide
South Australian company Cerebiz offers an Internet business health and performance analysis service to SME business owners, managers and accountants as a seamless extension to their MYOB accounting system.
Cerebiz analysis is visual providing graph and trend line formats as well as figures familiar to accountants. Access is secure (similar to banking systems) and available anywhere, anytime (24x7) via an Internet browser. The service is subscription based and there is no capital outlay required.
“We really stretch the investment companies have made in their MYOB system, their data, and MYOB training much further”, said Peter Vroom, Cerebiz co-founder and Director. “More importantly, Cerebiz provides the right information, at the right time, and in the right place. Owners and managers of growing SME businesses and their accountants and advisors tell us how limited the business health and performance information available out of MYOB is, and about the costs and problems of trying to use spreadsheets to overcome this shortcoming.”
He continued, “Cerebiz eliminates their 'spreadsheet wars' and provides much more up to date and highly visual analysis of MYOB data. And it can be accessed wherever the user may be... at the office, at home, or on the road… to support better business decision making in these difficult and stressful times for many growing businesses.”
He concluded, “Based on our discussions with MYOB, out of their 1 million customers, there are an estimated 200,000 growing SME businesses that would benefit from the Cerebiz service. Our SME customers and their accountants really like this for ease and speed of coming onto the system, the anywhere/anytime secure access, and the subscription based service which provides all our customers with the latest service improvements without any capital outlay.”
The merits of the Cerebiz solution for this large slice of the SME business market in Australia were recognised this week with Cerebiz winning the South Australian iAward for best Financial Industry Application sponsored by KPMG. The iAwards
is Australia's premier technology innovation awards program hosted by the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA).
Cerebiz will advance to the national iAward competition in Melbourne next month.

Make more money for your growing SME business from your beach house
Cerebiz Pty Ltd, Adelaide, South Australia
28 August 2009
Cerebiz today announced that it has a trial programme under way with a number of SME businesses and their Accountants using the Cerebiz Business Intelligence (BI) solution to provide business owners, managers, and their internal and external accountants with Internet based ‘anywhere, anytime’ access to their key business data.
‘Using a browser such as Internet Explorer over a secure network connection, easy to read and interpret business information on cash flow and profitability is now instantly available to business owners and managers’, said Peter Vroom, Corporate Development Director for Cerebiz.
‘Customer cash collection status and profitability as well as product or service sales and profitability information provided by the Cerebiz Internet service is always up to date as it’s automatically extracted from the business accounting system located in the customer office’, he continued. ‘Spreadsheets and back of the envelope calculations can be done away with’.
‘The SME business manager, owner or accountant can now access business critical cash and profit data in the office, at home, while travelling, or at the beach house. Cerebiz can also send Alerts by email or SMS when, for example, a customer order arrives (or does not) or a payment is not made. It’s truly a tool for the times!’
‘In the same way, the internal or external accountant can view the profit and loss and key performance indicators that can be set up. Exceptions, variances, and trends can be seen in graph form. Figures that appear out of line can be ‘drilled down’ into interactively to get to the cause. Corrections can also be made via the Internet as Cerebiz provides a two-way link to the accounting system in the office’, stated Vroom. ‘Cerebiz data can be viewed online or emailed, and static reports and spreadsheets which are often out of date by the time they get to people can be a thing of the past.’
‘The Cerebiz service is available for MYOB accounting systems now and will be made available for QuickBooks and others to follow. The service is offered on a subscription basis with no set up and equipment costs other than a broadband connection being involved.’
‘Cerebiz is aimed at SME business and the key to use and acceptance is relevance, immediate value and payback, as well as absolute ease of use,’ said Vroom. ‘We don’t envisage the need for training for anyone familiar with a browser, but we will have short video clips on the information that is available through Cerebiz and how that can be used to for making decisions to improve SME business.’
‘We strongly believe in better data makes for better decision making and therefore doing better business’, he concluded.
